INTRODUCTION

Shreekara World Foundation, through Project Bhumiputra, works towards promoting sustainable agricultural practices and income-generating activities for rural communities. Mushroom cultivation has been identified as an effective intervention due to its low cost, short production cycle, minimal land requirement, and increasing market demand.

This initiative at Cinnamara Bahbari-1 will be carried out by Ishrat Begum and Biru Tanti, who will directly undertake the cultivation process with technical guidance and monitoring support from the Foundation. The project will also serve as a model to encourage other farmers to adopt mushroom cultivation.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • To encourage sustainable and climate-friendly agricultural practices.
  • To encourage and popularize mushroom cultivation as a agricultural practice among local farmers.
  • To promote mushrooms as a healthy, nutritious, and protein-rich food product.
  • To promote income generation through mushroom farming.
  • To strengthen rural entrepreneurship under Project Bhumiputra.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION & ACTIVITIES

The project will commence on 23 January 2026 and include the following activities:

  • Procurement of mushroom spawn and other cultivation inputs
  • Preparation of cultivation space and growing beds
  • Hands-on guidance on mushroom cultivation techniques
  • Regular monitoring and technical support by Shreekara World Foundation
  • Harvesting and sale of mushrooms in local markets

The cultivation activities will be carried out by the cultivators, with facilitation and oversight from the Foundation. The project will function as a demonstration initiative to motivate nearby farmers to adopt mushroom cultivation as an additional source of income.
